Devon Witherspoon selected to 2025 Pro Bowl
Devon Witherspoon has made his second consecutive NFL Pro Bowl.

Former Illini Devon Witherspoon has been selected for the 2025 Pro Bowl per multiple reports. This will be Witherspoon’s second straight NFL Pro Bowl selection meaning that he has made the event in both of his two NFL Seasons. It is certainly a major achievement for the fifth overall draft pick who continues to establish himself as a star in the NFL. With one game left in the regular season, Witherspoon has totaled 90 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 7 pass deflections. Despite most of his statistics being lower than his rookie season, coaches and players have continuously raved about Devon Witherspoon and his play.
Head coach Mike McDonald has described the former Illini star as a “leader” and a “force multiplier”. Given how hard Devon Witherspoon plays all the time, it is easy to see why people view him as such.

Just the Beginning
Witherspoon is only 24 years old. The Pensacola, Florida native will certainly be in line for a major payday once his rookie contract is over. It is an incredible story to watch Witherspoon, who came in as a skinny, last-minute addition who barely made eligibility criteria at Illinois, becoming a top-5 overall pick in the NFL and two-time Pro Bowler. He is the only Fighting Illini who made the 2025 Pro Bowl. To many peoples’ surprise, Detroit Lions safety, Kerby Joseph, did not make the Pro Bowl despite leading the NFL with 9 interceptions.
