News: The Denver Broncos selected former Illini WR Pat Bryant with the 74th overall pick. After a storied Illini career, Bryant will now continue his football career in a different shade of Orange and Blue. Pat had a standout senior season as he achieved All-Big Ten First Team honors from the Associated Press. He put up impressive stats including 54 receptions for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Bryant is the second Illini wide receiver in the past two years to be drafted. Last year, Casey Washington went in the seventh round to the Atlanta Falcons. The Illini have gotten a lot of recognition for their defensive players in the draft. Devon Witherspoon, Kerby Joseph, Quan Martin, and more have all gained headlines. However, they are slowly adding more offensive draft picks to their resume. Pat Bryant joins Casey Washington, Isaiah Adams, and Tip Reiman as the offensive group of Illini in the NFL Draft.
A strong fit?
Pat Bryant should get some early looks on a rather young Broncos squad. Veteran head coach Sean Payton and young quarterback Bo Nix led a resurgence last season and Bryant should be an intriguing weapon. We know that if Pat sees the field early, he is bound to turn heads.
