Former Illinois Football Kicker Signs 3-year NFL Deal
Chase McLaughlin was one of the more underappreciated Illinois Football players. In an era to forget for Illinois Football fans, players like Nick Allegretti, Jihad Ward, and Justin Hardee have gone on to found long-term NFL homes. However, former Illinois Football Kicker, just signed a 3-year, 12.3 million dollar deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That is absolutely huge! McLaughlin has bounced around the league, as the Bucs are his 7th team in 5 years as an NFL kicker.
However, Chase looks to have finally found his home with this new deal. McLaughlin played the 2023 season with the Buccaneers and was outstanding. Chase went 29-31 overall and did not miss a single extra point. His only two misses were between 40-49 yards and a 50+ yarder. Despite this, he nailed a 57-yard field goal on top of his impressive accuracy. Mclaughlin put up nearly identical numbers the year prior with the Indianapolis Colts.
A Model of Consistency
Chase McLaughlin was just super reliable. In three years at Illinois, McLaughlin went 44-59 and never missed a single extra point. The Bucs are getting a model of consistency in Chase McLaughlin. Look for Chase to have a long career given his continued steady work.
