Illinois basketball’s point guard, Kylan Boswell, drew an NBA all-star comparison from former Illini Mike LaTulip. LaTulip was on the Field of 68 podcast with Jeff Goodman and had some interesting thoughts about the potential of the Illinois basketball backcourt. LaTulip is certainly one of the better basketball minds in college basketball media and envisioned a pretty spot-on role for Kylan Boswell.

NBA Champion Jrue Holiday

Mike said, “I envision like a Jrue Holiday type of role for him. It’s hard to touch Jrue’s level defensively. And then offensively, much like Jrue was for the Celtics this year, be a secondary ball-handler.” In recent years, Holiday has become one of the most important two-way players in the entire NBA. He absolutely changed the trajectory of the Boston Celtics this year and helped them win an NBA Championship. Boswell is smaller than Holiday, however, he possesses a similar game style. They are both solid shooters from the three-point line who also have a lot of defensive potential.

If Kylan Boswell is able to unlock that kind of potential, look for Illinois Basketball to remain at the top of the Big Ten conference once again.
