Illinois Basketball Storms Into Big Ten Championship Game

What a performance. After a stressful game on Friday evening, Illinois Basketball fans were looking forward to some momentum heading into the depths of postseason play. Additionally, the mighty Purdue Boilermakers fell in an overtime battle vs the Wisconsin Badgers. This perked the eyes and ears of the Illini nation, however, it did not come without frustration. Once again, Illinois started off slow and a bit lackadaisical. Within the first ten minutes of the second half, Illinois Basketball stared at a 15-point deficit. With Nebraska shooting the lights out of the arena, the outlook looked grim.

But we have the best player in America.

No Questions. No Doubt

Terrence Shannon Jr is the best player in America. Talk about Zach Edey all you want, but when Shannon Jr gets going, there is no one that can stop him. Terrence is playing at an elite level. The Illinois Basketball superstar dropped a ridiculous 40 points while going 11-22 from the field. Shannon Jr’s performance kept Illinois afloat, however, his consistent explosion spurred a 58-point second half. Luckily, the rest of the Illini came alive. Ty Rodgers has been fantastic this tournament. The Sophomore guard added 8 points and 13 rebounds, including 7 offensive boards.

Illinois is clicking, however, they cannot take the Wisconsin Badgers lightly. Though they are not Purdue, Illinois has to have a forty-minute game if they want to close out their second Big Ten Tournament title in 4 years. Game on, Illini Nation.
