Illinois Football adds safety Caden Considine to class of 2026

As reported by Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer (247 Sports), Illinois Football has landed another piece to its 2026 recruiting puzzle with in-state safety Caden Considine. His decision makes him the 31st commit in Illinois’ Class of 2026, which currently ranks 34th nationally (23^rd – Composite) in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

In addition to the Illini, Considine held FCS offers from North Dakota State and Western Illinois.

A dynamic two-sport athlete at Byron High School, Considine led his Tigers to a 2025 Class 3A state championship as a senior, finishing with eye-catching totals on both sides of the ball. He rushed for over 2,100 yards with 40 touchdowns while also tallying 84 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense, capping a career that featured more than 5,100 rushing yards and 82 touchdowns.

Considine’s addition is significant for the Illini secondary as Illinois continues to build quality depth behind Xavier Scott, Matthew Bailey, Tanner Heckel, and Mac Resetich. With his obvious athleticism and proven production as a ball-carrier, Considine is a dynamic playmaker who can contribute not only on defense, but also on special teams — and potentially as an emergency option on offense. As he continues to develop and roster needs evolve, his versatility could prove to be valuable for Bielema’s staff.
