Illinois Football news: SEMO OL Tyler McMillan commits to the Illini
The Illini added significant depth to the two deep of their offensive line.
News: Illinois football has successfully added a key piece to its offensive line room. 6-foot-6 lineman, Tyler McMillan, has committed to the Illini after playing this past season at Southeast Missouri State. McMillan played primarily at the tackle position and graded out very well as a pass protector per PFF. Tyler is a native of Detroit, Michigan, where he played high school ball at River Rouge High School. Current Illini defensive backs coach Corey Parker was the head coach at River Rouge for a number of year,s which is the likely connection between McMillan and the Illinois football staff.
Before his time at Southeast Missouri State, McMillan played left tackle for a year at Northwestern State.
Depth for the Illinois football line
The Illini have a very strong group starting at the offensive line. They return all five starters from last season and should be an anchor for this team. However, injuries are bound to happen in the trenches. McMillan significantly boosts the two-deep should any one of the starters need rest or go down with injury. Outside of the five-starters, the Illini are rather young in their offensive line two deep, so adding an experienced FBS starter is a big-time grab.
Look for Illinois to continue to beef up the trenches as they look to repeat their success from this past season.
