NEWS: Illinois Basketball center Tomislav Ivisic Cleared by NCAA

Great news has arrived for the Illini. Per a subtle news drop by the official X account, Illinois basketball center, Tomislav Ivisic has been cleared to play by the NCAA. Ivisic has been waiting for this since arriving to campus in July. He played in Sunday’s exhibition vs Ole Miss, however, did not have official clearance from the NCAA. All of Illini nation can breathe a sigh of relief as many were hoping that Ivisic would be cleared as soon as possible. There was reason to worry as well given that Tomislav’s older brother, Zvonimir, did not receive news until January.

Huge news for Illinois (literally and figuratively)

Ivisic was outstanding in the exhibition vs Ole Miss. He looked comfortable and made a massive difference in the overall play of the Illini. The big man had 12 points and 6 rebounds, including two three-pointers. Illinois basketball now has a true seven-footer in their frontcourt. On both ends, that is literally and figuratively huge news. On offense, Ivisic has an outstanding touch around the rim but can also stretch the floor. His ability to shoot the ball will certainly clear up driving lanes for Kasparas Jakucionis and Kylan Boswell.

On defense, he is able to provide rim protection and adequate resistance against some of the better Big Ten Centers. This allows players like Morez Johnson Jr. and Carey Booth to settle into their roles as energy players off the bench.
