Quentin Coleman Commits to Illinois: Top-35 Guard Joins Illini 2026 Class
The Illini remain hot both on and off the court.

Quentin Coleman, one of the fastest rising prospects in the class of 2026, has committed to Illinois basketball. Though the Illini are currently preparing for their Final Four game vs UConn, they landed a top prospect after hosting him for an official visit this past weekend. Coleman was recently released from his National Letter of Intent with Wake Forest University and will now don the Orange and Blue over offers from Texas Tech, Missouri, and more.
Coleman is an effortless scorer and should fit right into the Illini’s guard-friendly offense. With Keaton Wagler set to make the leap to the NBA (not official yet) and Kylan Boswell set to graduate, Coleman is set to play a major role on the Illini’s 2026-2027 team. He is a slender prospect, however, has underrated athleticism and can score at all three levels. He is slippery in the open court and has incredible bounce on his jump shot. A player that he reminds me of is Alabama guard Labaron Philon Jr.
Background on Quentin Coleman’s story
Quentin Coleman actually started off his high school basketball career in O’Fallon, Illinois, before transferring to Principia High School. Since then, Coleman has turned himself into a top-20 recruit in the country and one of the best scoring guards in the country. During his senior season, Quentin Coleman averaged 23.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.6 steals. He did so with incredible efficiency as he shot 64.9% from the field, 50.6% from three, and 89.7% from the free-throw line. This spectacular play led Principia to a dominant 29-2 season and the Missouri Class 3 state title.
