Terrence Shannon Jr Receives Praise From NBA Draft Analyst
Terrence Shannon Jr has had an incredible start to the season. After a solid first year in Champaign, the Chicago native seems to have taken the next step as the alpha of the Illinois Basketball squad. Terrence looks comfortable as the leader of this team and he has had sufficient help around him. Marcus Domask, Justin Harmon, and Quincy Guerrier have all shined in their respective roles. Luke Goode has been stable and solid for this team and Coleman Hawkins has quite an impact whether he scores or not. The vibes are high for the Illinois Basketball squad and Terrence Shannon Jr deserves a lot of credit. Though he played well last year, he struggled with consistency. After the UCLA game in which he scored 29 points, he had a string of poor games.
So far, Terrence Shannon Jr has not had a bad game per se. It is still early in the season, however, he appears to have made the “Ayo Dosunmu” jump from junior to senior year. All this being said, he has started to regain some draft buzz.

Upping his stock
Terrence Shannon Jr may have been a draft pick in the 2023 draft. However, there were different opinions. Some stated that he would for sure be picked. However, Terrence chose to remove himself from the draft. A similar player, Ricky Council IV, went undrafted despite putting up solid numbers in his senior year. Terrence may have made the right decision. The 2024 NBA draft is far weaker than the top-heavy 2023 draft that included Victor Wembanyama, Amen Thompson, and Brandon Miller. Givony stated above that Terrence looked like a first-round pick. After dropping 33 points on an efficient shooting line and getting the rim double-digit times, Terrence Shannon Jr has set himself up for success. If he can bring this type of intensity in big-time environments, his draft stock will continue to improve.
A huge win for the Lincoln Park native for believing in his work and returning to college.
