Andrej Stojakovic promises that the Illini are not done yet
Stojakovic’s strong play was one of the main reasons that the Illini have succeeded in the NCAA tournament so far
Through four games in the NCAA Tournament, Andrej Stojakovic has averaged 15.0 points per game on 59.5% from the field. His ability to apply rim pressure has been so key for the Illini, particularly when shooting the ball gets difficult. Despite Illinois winning all four of its games by double-digits, there have been multiple times when its opponents have gone on big runs. Stojakovic’s scoring ability and downhill drives have been key to making sure the Illini keep their opponents out of reach.
Initially, Stojakovic had some major struggles coming off the bench after a significant ankle injury. However, he has found his role at the perfect time for the Illini. On top of that, he has been an exceptional leader for the team. When talking with the media, Andrej said, “We got guys 1 through 15 and a room full of coaching staff, administration, guys that help us every day, managers that don’t get the credit. It took all of us to get here. Last thing I’ll say, I don’t want anybody to think that this is it. We didn’t get to the Final Four just to get there. We’re coming to win two more games.”
Powerful words coming from one of the most experienced playesr on this Illini team.
