At ArmchairIllini.com, our mission is simple: to be your go-to destination for comprehensive and passionate coverage of the Illinois Fighting Illini. We strive to provide comprehensive coverage while engaging a passionate fan base.

We at Armchair Illini also strive to engage the talented student body at the University of Illinois. Whether its through sports photography or article writing, we are passionate about giving students of the University of Illinois a chance to work in sports media.

Meet the Owner:

Alex Kyi

Alex is the Owner of Armchairillini.com, your go-to source for in-depth coverage of the Illinois Fighting Illini. Alex has had articles featured in top media publications like Bleacher Report, Yardbarker, Verbal Commits, CBS Sports, and more. Alex also runs all Armchair Illini social media pages. During the 2025-2026 Illini basketball season, Alex led all social media campaigns and earned Armchair Illini over 30 Million impressions across all social media platforms.

Alex also leads content creation and leads Armchair Illini’s graphic design, public relations and podcast production

Kirkland Chappell

Kirkland is our longest-tenured writer. Kirkland brings years of experience in radio and in media advertising.  His work has been featured on IlliniGuys, Illini Now, Bleacher Report, and Yardbarker.

Nathan Nash

Nathan Nash brings passion, knowledge, and a vast array of experience to Armchair Illini. Nathan has been following Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball for years and will bring the latest recruiting news and analysts to Illini fans. 

Robby Nardini

Robby Nardini is a former Illinois Basketball manager who also contributes to The Champaign Room. Robby brings a vast knowledge of the College basketball landscape to Armchair Illini and also runs the Armchair Illini Newsletter!

Austin Burklund

Austin is the former producer of the Jeremy Werner show, a staple of Champaign media during the late 2010’s. Austin brings years of media relations experience and is one of Armchair Illini’s lead content creators.
