Illinois basketball news: Brad Underwood visits Five-Star prospect

News: Illinois basketball head coach visits a five-star prospect in the City of Palms event.

NEWS: Per Joe Tipton of On3, Illinois basketball head coach, Brad Underwood, is currently in Fort Myers, Florida for the City of Palms classic to mainly watch five-star prospect, Alex Constanza. Constanza is a top-15 prospect in the class of 2026 who was actually just on his official visit to Champaign last week for the game vs Wisconsin. Per Tipton’s tweet, the other schools visiting Constanza at the event are Kentucky, Oregon, and Oklahoma State. Per our sources, Miami and Syracuse are heavily involved with the 6-foot-8 prospect.

It is certainly nice to see Coach Underwood in to watch Alex Constanza just one week after his official visit. Just yesterday, Constanza exploded for 44 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

A Big Fish for Illinois Basketball

Illinois basketball assistant, Orlando Antigua, is the lead recruiter for the five-star prospect. Though it will be tough to project how the Illini’s roster will look like once the class of 2026 enrolls, Constanza is a top-tier prospect. Additionally, there are some talks about Constanza possibly reclassifying into the class of 2025. If that is the case, Illinois basketball has quite the sell with current true freshman, Will Riley. Riley was also a reclass prospect who the Illini have heavily leaned on. Riley started off the season extremely well and earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.
