Former Illini Ayo Dosunmu cleared for 2025 NBA training camp
Dosunmu is entering his fifth season in the NBA after a stellar career at Illinois
Former Illini basketball star, Ayo Dosunmu was having a breakout season for the Chicago Bulls. He emerged as the Bulls’ best perimeter defender and a significant “glue-piece”. In fact, Dosunmu even dropped a triple-double against the San Antonio Spurs. However, shortly after, Dosunmu underwent season ending surgery to repair left shoulder instability in March and had to miss the rest of the season. Since then, Dosunmu found himself in trade rumors as the Chicago Bulls figured out the direction of their franchise moving forward.
Fast forward to NBA media day on September 30th, and Ayo Dosunmu is still a Chicago Bull. In fact, he spoke to Armchair Illini for an exclusive interview about his Illinois legacy and how ready he is for the new season. He also returned to Champaign to workout with strength and conditioning coach, Adam Fletcher.
Dosunmu has improved every season since being in the NBA. His relentless approach makes him one of the most reliable two-way players out there. Look for Dosunmu to earn starters minutes for a rebuilding Chicago Bulls franchise.
