Former Illini Malcolm Hill with solid preseason performance for 76ers
The former Illini Hill always makes the most of minutes no matter how many or how little.
Malcolm Hill played 14 minutes for the Philadelphia 76ers in today’s 104-113 preseason loss vs the New York Knicks. Hill scored 14 points and shot 5-9 from the field while hitting 3-6 threes. It was an efficient night for the former Illini as he continues to make the most of whatever kind of minutes he gets in the NBA. As we reported, the other day, Hill signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the 76ers for the start of the 2025 season. In all, Malcolm Hill will certainly be fighting an uphill battle to make the 76ers’ roster, given how deep the team is at forward. However, he could certainly make enough of an impact to make the G-League or another team’s roster. On top of that, the 76ers are typically an injury-prone team. With Paul George battling injuries and aging, Hill could find himself at the right place at the right time.
Though his ceiling is not as high as some other young high-flying athletes, Malcolm Hill brings solid two-way play. He continues to improve as a catch-and-shoot option and is an above-average defender at the wing. Three-and-D players are very important in today’s NBA game. Hopefully, Malcolm Hill can find his way onto an official NBA roster once the season starts.
