Illinois Basketball News: Tre White Unexpectedly Enters the Transfer Portal
The Illini lose their third player to the transfer portal.
Yet another unexpected transfer portal entry for Illinois Basketball. According to sources, including SCC Central, Illinois Basketball starting guard Tre White has now officially entered his name into the transfer portal. White started a majority of games for the Illini and averaged 10.5 ppg and 5.5 RPG. During the Illini’s late season surge after an embarrassing loss to Duke, White emerged as a key player and even hinted at “running it back” just last week. Now, the former USC and Louisville transfer will seek out his fourth destination.
To many, White was going to provide veteran leadership alongside fellow senior Kylan Boswell. With so many pieces expected to enter the transfer, Illinois basketball is in a similar situation as last year in terms of roster construction.
This makes for the Fighting Illini’s third loss to the portal this week – including F Carey Booth and F Morez Johnson Jr. – who entered his name on March 28th. There are more names from the Illinois basketball roster expected to enter. Safe to say, however, that Tre White’s entry hurts the Illini.
