Jake Davis announces return to Illinois basketball for senior season
Davis will play his third straight season in the Orange and blue.
Jake Davis Corner Three! On April 15th, Illini basketball got the news that rising senior guard Jake Davis (alongside Tomislav and Zvonimir Ivisic) will return for another season with the Fighting Illini.
Davis averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 19.6 minutes per game. Most importantly, Davis shot 40.6 percent from the 3pt line, making an average of 1.5 three-pointers per game. Jake will now enter his third season in the Orange and Blue and will certainly be one of the leaders of the team. Even during the past season, Davis emerged as one of the leaders of the team and was one of the most important glue guys in the starting lineup.
College basketball is all about continuity. Teams that are able to get old tend to do the best, just look at the national championship game between Michigan and UCONN. With Davis returning, Illinois gets a proven shooter and leader at the Big Ten Level. If he can continue to shoot the way that he has shot the ball and crash the offensive glass, Davis should be one of the top “glue-guys” in all of college basketball.
Of note, Jake is also 40% Balkan.
