Illinois basketball in contention for big man Sinan Huan
Can the Illini continue their strong trend with international players?
Illinois basketball is in the top-3 schools for Chinese big man Sinan Huan. Per Joe Tipton of On3, Huan will pick between Illinois, Purdue, and Ohio State. Huan, who attends Georgetown Prep in Maryland, will reportedly announce his commitment sometime in the next week. He visited the Illinois basketball program during the weekend of September 12th. By all accounts, Purdue is the expected destination for the big man. The Boilermakers have such a strong sell at the center position given their recent success with bigs such as Zach Edey, Isaac Haas, AJ Hammons, Trey Kaufman-Renn, and more. If any center prospect is considering Purdue, it can be reasonable to guess that the prospect will choose the Boilermakers
Illinois basketball, however, should not worry. They have a strong class of 2026 thus far. Ethan Brown is a high-upside, combo guard who has a similar skillset to current Illini freshman standout Keaton Wagler. Landon Davis is a stretch big man with a lot of offensive versatility. Finally, four-star guard Lucas Morillo is the definition of a big guard who can play the two or the three. If they can land one center prospect in this class, it will certainly be one of the best in the country.
