Brad Underwood vs Nate Oats. Illinois vs Alabama. At the United Center on November 19th.
Illinois basketball will head to Chicago for a marquee non-conference matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Illini will return to the United Center for a regular-season game for the first time since 2018.
Date: Wednesday, November 19th

KenPom Line: Illinois -6
The Illini last appeared at the United Center for a regular-season game in 2018 against Ohio State, and their most recent victory there came on December 16th, 2016, against BYU.
The return to the United Center for a game against a ranked opponent should draw Illinois alumni and fans from across the Chicagoland area. It promises to be an exciting matchup packed with scoring and highlight-worthy plays.
Alabama enters the game at 2–1, led by one of the nation’s strongest backcourts. Labaron Philon, Aden Holloway, and Latrell Wrightsell powered the Crimson Tide to a major road win over St. John’s earlier this month, combining for 63 of Alabama’s 102 points.
Senior guard Kylan Boswell will likely take on the challenge of defending Philon, aiming to disrupt the sophomore guard’s rhythm. Philon had initially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft but withdrew to return for his second season. He was named to the 2024–25 SEC All-Freshman Team last March.
Illinois basketball will look to avenge last year’s 100–87 loss to Alabama in Birmingham. A better defensive performance will be needed to come away with a victory.
Tomislav Ivisic “could possibly” be available on Wednesday night, said Brad Underwood.
The Illinois center has already missed three games this season due to a knee injury and remains questionable for Wednesday. His presence would be significant as the Illini aim for their second win over a ranked opponent.
