Illinois football lands three-star athlete Darryl Flemister
Illinois Football assistant Corey Parker helped reel in Darryl Flemister, one of the toughest defensive backs in the state of Michigan.
Illinois Football landed a key commitment on the Fourth of July from three-star athlete Darryl Flemister. Flemister is the 15th commitment in the Illini’s class of 2027. He committed to the Illini over offers from Iowa, Auburn, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Flemister played multiple positions on the field during his time at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, including QB, WR and DB. However, the Illini are recruiting Flemister as a Defensive back. The Illini’s DB coach, Corey Parker, was the lead recruiter for Darryl Flemister.
Right now, 247sports has Flemister as the No. 19 prospect in the state of Michigan.
What Flemister brings to Illinois Football
Darryl Flemister brings versatility, instincts and a competitive fire to the Illini’s defensive back room. He is a quick-twitch athlete that uses his length to disrupt wide receivers on the perimeter. Though Flemister has some strength development to do with his 160 pound frame, he fits exactly what Illinois Football wants in a defensive back. Current defensive backs such as Xavier Scott and Juice Clarke came into the Illini program with similar traits and have now developed into top-of-the-line Big Ten Defensive backs.
Per an article done by Joey Wagner on Illini Inquirer, Flemister is widely known as one of the best competitors in the state of Michigan. The Illini seem to have a very good track record with that kind of player, just think of NFL Pro Bowl DB Devon Witherspoon.
