Former Illini guard Mihailo Petrovic to transfer to Seton Hall

NEWS: Per Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, former Illini basketball guard Mihailo Petrovic has committed to Seton Hall. Petrovic entered the transfer portal on April 11th after just one season with the Illini. The Serbian guard averaged 1.6 points per game in just 19 game appearances for the Illini. Petrovic came to play college basketball after a successful professional career in the Adriatic League. During the 2024-2025 season with KK Mega, Petrovic averaged 14.2 points and 7.3 assists per game. Illinois basketball brought in Petrovic with high expectations. However, Petrovic arrived late to campus and was not cleared until late in the summer, by which point he had already suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of the initial games of the season.

Once he returned to action, Petrovic showed flashes of speed, playmaking, and ball-handling abilities; however, he never adjusted to the physicality on the defensive side and struggled to find a role without the ball in his hands. On top of that, freshman Keaton Wagler was simply outstanding and too good to even come off the floor. The Seton Hall Pirates will be bringing in 10 total newcomers to their roster per 247sports. As a 24-year-old, Mihailo Petrovic will bring experience, playmaking ability, and ball-handling to Seton Hall.
