Prior to Illinois’ big homecoming win over USC, Armchair Illini’s Austin Burklund and Kirkland Chappell caught up with Illini Basketball legend Ayo Dosunmu at Discover Field Access for an exclusive interview during FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff Show festivities.
Ayo Dosunmu reflected on his time playing for Brad Underwood and the Illini and shared his pride in the program’s continued success.

“It’s always great to see the continued success after I left,” says Dosunmu. “It shows that we weren’t a one fluke wonder, that we are a continued program, that’s continued building with good players, and winning the Big Ten Championship, and winning the Big Ten Tournament championship, getting NBA Draft picks… That was something that wasn’t thought of 8 years ago when I was getting recruited here. So, for that to be a part of the conversation now is always great. I get thrilled every time I see new commits come in here from overseas, or from the States.” 
Dosunmu additionally reflected on the overall resurgence of Illini Athletics under Athletic Director Josh Whitman
“It’s amazing, because this is something we mapped out when I came down here, from my official visit. So, talking to Josh Whitman, talking to coach Underwood, talking to Kelsey, my parents – this is what we envisioned. We weren’t just thinking about 3 or 4 years, or the two years I was here. We were thinking about 10, 15 years, (and on).”
