Five-star Brady Pettigrew set to take unofficial visit to Illinois
Brady Pettigrew is an elite prospect in the class of 2028.
Per Sam Kayser of League Ready, five-star guard Brady Pettigrew is set to take an unofficial visit to Illinois on Monday, June 29th. 247sports currently ranks Pettigrew as the number 18 prospect in the class of 2028; however, there are multiple rumors about Pettigrew reclassifying to the class of 2027. There are not many prospects better in the class of 2028 than Brady Pettigrew. He is an elite combo guard with unrelenting motor and an ability to attack the front of the rim. In the spring, Pettigrew averaged 23.6 points per game on the EYBL circuit for Brad Beal Elite.
Pettigrew holds offers from Auburn, Ohio State, Villanova, and plenty more.

What does it mean?
Brady Pettigrew is the Illini’s top priority in the class of 2028, alongside in-state combo forward Cole Kelly. He has been on the Illinois campus multiple times and even relayed to Illini Inquirer’s Kyle Tausk that the Illini staff is arguably recruiting him as hard as anyone. Given the spring that he had, it is nice to see Pettigrew reciprocate the interest and give Champaign a visit. Whether Pettigrew stays in the class of 2028 remains to be seen, but he fits perfectly into the Illini’s class of 2027 should he choose to reclass. As of now, it is hard to find a school that has a better sell at the guard position than Illinois.
The Illini have had 4 first-round draft picks in the past 3 NBA Drafts. 3 of them are guard prospects in Keaton Wagler, Terrence Shannon Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis.
Pettigrew is an elite talent and could very well be the next great guard at the University of Illinois.
Five-star guard Brady Pettigrew is a must get for the #illini staff. 2028 lead guard from Bolingbrook, Illinois. gets to his spots with ease. Super competitive on both ends
Told Kyle Tausk of Illini Inquirer that Illinois is one of the schools pushing the hardest for him.
