With Marcus Domask, Justin Harmon and Terrence Shannon all moving on after this year, Illinois needs perimeter help and Oweh could fit that bill as a combo guard much like how Marcus Domask is playing.

Former Illinois Basketball Guard Recruit Hits Transfer Portal

It is always interesting to see former Illinois basketball recruits in the transfer portal. Before the transfer portal, kids had to sit out one year before having the eligibility to play. This made high-major transfers rather rare and Illinois Basketball fans would frequently recruiting misses go on to do some good things. Players like Jawun Evans, Jalen Brunson, Cliff Alexander and more, would have full length college careers at a different school. Nowadays, fans are seeing former recruits hit the portal and hoping that they are able to land that certain player in the “Portal Szn”. Quincy Guerrier is a perfect example of this. After tranferring from Syracuse, Guerrier picked the Oregon Ducks instead of the Illini.

After a second transfer, Quincy picked Illinois and is currently having the best season of his career. Recently, a former Illinois Basketball recruit in the class of 2022 has hit the transfer portal.

Otega Oweh; Guard who is transferring from Oklahoma.

Otega Oweh is a 6 foot 5 guard out of New Jersey who picked Oklahoma over Illinois and Penn State. Oweh is the brother of current Ravens linebacker, Odafe Oweh, who played his college football at Penn State. Oweh played sparingly during his freshman year at Oklahoma, however, blossommed as a sophomore. Otega averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assistsAs a prep prospect, he did have quite a lot of Andres Feliz to him. He likes to attack the rim and is a strong bodied combo guard that really gets after it on both ends.

With Marcus Domask, Justin Harmon and Terrence Shannon all moving on after this year, Illinois needs perimeter help and Oweh could fit that bill as a combo guard much like how Marcus Domask is playing. As stated before, Underwood continues to chase size and versatility on the perimeter. Otega Oweh fits that bill and he would be a perfect fit in an Illinois Basketball uniform.
