Illinois Football Recruiting 2025: Illini Loses Talented Commit to Big Ten Opponent
Illini Football has lost a talented commitment in their class of 2025. Wide receiver Davion Chandler announced that he will be flipping his commitment from the Illini to the Indiana Hoosiers. Chandler was an impressive commitment to the class of 2025, however, his commitment lasted a total of 16 days. After Chandler and defensive lineman, Isaiah White, committed to the Illini, many were hopeful that it would be the start of a pipeline from Indianapolis to Champaign. After all, Indianapolis is not very far from Champaign and there are certainly talented prospects that are overlooked.
Davion had initially picked the Illini after his official visit. He held offers from Wisconsin, Kansas, Purdue, West Virginia, and other power-five programs. Per 247sports, Chandler is a top 10 prospect in the state of Indiana. As a junior, the speedy wideout caught 40 passes for 779 yards.

Despite Chandler’s decommitment, the Illini still have a solid foundation in their class of 2025. They currently have the commitment of talented in-state wide receiver, Brayden Trimble. Trimble is rated as a top-500 prospect and was a major win for the Illini. Despite that, they are certainly looking to add speed on the perimeter. Chandler would have been the perfect fit for that, however, the new wide receivers coach, Justin Stepp, will have to get creative in recruiting.
