Illinois Basketball leading for athletic FC Barcelona Wing

Per Joe Tipton of On3 sports, Illinois basketball is the front-runner for European prospect, Dame Sarr. Per Tipton, Sarr is also considering Creighton and Arizona as his top potential options to play college basketball with next year. Sarr is a 6 foot 6, long athletic guard/wing who is currently playing for FC Barcelona. He was teammates with current Illini standout, Kasparas Jakucionis, and also shares the same agent.

Dame Sarr is a young, raw prospect who is currently playing alongside stiff competition in Europe. His teammates include former NBA number two overall pick, Jabari Parker, and former NBA players Tomas Satoransky and Justin Anderson.

Impact on the Illini

Currently, Illinois basketball expects to lose two key players to the NBA Draft. Kasparas Jakucionis and Will Riley. Both players are expected to be first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. Sarr plays the guard/wing position much like Riley and looks like the perfect replacement. Recently, Sarr put up a career-high 21 points over Breogan. Based on his film, he is a long, rangy athlete with a promising outside stroke. He may not be as crafty in the half-court as Will Riley is, however, he is an above-the-rim athlete with incredible length.

With his length, he will bring a great deal of defensive versatility to the Illinois basketball team.
