Illinois Basketball: Luke Goode Enters Transfer Portal
It was announced on Monday (4/23) morning that Illinois Basketball guard Luke Goode has now entered his name into the transfer portal. Jeff Borzello of ESPN broke the news to social media via his X account. Luke is now the 4th Illini to hit the portal this off-season. Dain Dainja left Illinois for Penny Hardaway, and the Memphis Tigers. Of course, after getting his playtime slashed heavily in 2024 due to lack of system fit, despite a late-season run from Dain. Sincere Harris and Armani Hansberry have also followed suit, entering their name into the portal to follow former Illini assistant Chester Fraizer to West Virginia.
Illinois guard Luke Goode has entered the transfer portal, per source. Been some speculation surrounding this in recent days. Averaged 5.7 points this past season, made nearly 39% of his 3-pointers in three years in Champaign.

Thoughts
Goode, a native of Fort Wayne Indiana, averaged 5.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game in 2023. Shooting 39% from behind the arc. Certainly, where Luke found the most comfort in his game post-foot surgery. Furthermore, the 6’7 sharpshooter took a bit of a step back in 2023-24 from where he was as a freshman. However, Luke is a baller, and there is a good chance that he is going to light the nets up for someone else, if the fit is correct. With Luke being from Big Ten country originally, keep an eye on his home state schools.
For now, its a big loss for Illinois, and another spot that will have to be filled on this roster for 2025. Underwood and staff are going to need to lock down some sharp shooters in the rich, yet liquid portal market. However, pickings are getting smaller, as players are quickly making decisions. Lucky for Illinois, they added an ace recruiter to their arsenal. Orlando Antigua is one of the best in the business, and now he has room to work with. About 4 open roster spots to be exact. Certainly, another Big man and shooters will remain top priority for Illinois Basketball.
