Illinois basketball signee Brandon Lee discusses commitment to the Illini
Illinois basketball has some impressive scorers coming in their class of 2025.
Illinois basketball signee, Brandon Lee, is a 6 foot 3 inch shooting guard out of the Patrick school in New Jersey. Lee committed to the Illini in late September after an official visit to Champaign. He sat down with WBH Radio to discuss a variety of topics including his commitment to the Illini. Brandon described the decision as a “big boy decision” that he made to best further his career. Of course, Lee received input from his family, including his father, Butch, who played college basketball at Marquette. Lee stated that he made his decision in his mind when he and the basketball staff were on the field of Memorial Stadium.,
One of the go-to’s for Illinois basketball on official visits (weather permitting) is setting up multiple armchairs in the middle of the Football field to watch a series of videos. Typically, the videos include historical highlights of the Illini program combined with highlights of the recruit.

“It was like a moment of silence. one side was the coaches, one side was my family. This is what I want to do, this is where I want to be…The rest is history”
Lee went on to describe that he first talked to the Illini halfway through his AAU season. Assistant coach, Orlando Antigua, made contact with Lee talking about how impressive his game is. With Antigua’s reputation as a top-shelf recruiter, Lee was definitely proud to be on the radar. Illinois basketball is getting a tough, competitive shooting guard with a wonderful basketball pedigree. When he arrives in Champaign, he will thrive off of playing alongside Division One basketball players. This should help him become more efficient with his perimeter game.
Brandon Lee is already a proficient down-hill driver as well, which should help him get on the floor for spot minutes next year.
