Illinois Basketball Star Set to Return… Immediately?
Breaking News: Terrence Shannon Jr is trying to get back to the court for Illinois Basketball sooner than we thought…immediately.
Bob Asmussen of the News-Gazette is reporting that Terrence Shannon’s legal team has “filed a request for a temporary restraining order” that would allow Shannon to return to playing basketball for Illinois right away.
Since the rape charges pressed in December, Terrence Shannon has repeatedly insisted that he is not guilty. This move by his legal team aims to get him back in an Illinois Basketball uniform while the process plays out.
According to Asmussen, “If the temporary restraining order is granted, it could allow Shannon to be back with the team this week.” Obviously, Shannon’s return to Illinois on the basketball floor would be great for the team. They are in the middle of a Big Ten title hunt and could use the talents of their All-American. But it will be interesting to see how they handle having a player on the team with active, on-going charges of this nature.
Stay tuned as this ongoing process plays out.
