Illinois Basketball Star Terrence Shannon Jr to be Suspended
Illinois Basketball Star Terrence Shannon Jr Suspended
On Thursday afternoon, Illinois Basketball announced that their superstar, Terrence Shannon Jr will be suspended from the team for an indefinite period of time.
Shannon Jr is being charged with rape and is suspended from all basketball activities effective immediately. There was an incident that occurred while Shannon Jr attended an Illinois Football game in Kansas, however, the DIA is still undergoing its investigation
Illinois AD Josh Whitman’s Statement
“The University and DIA have shown time and again that we have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct”. “At the same time, DIA policy affords student-athletes appropriate levels of due process based on the nature and severity of the allegations. We will rely on that policy and our prior experiences to manage this situation appropriately for the University and the involved parties.”
All things considered, we should appreciate the quick statement from the Illinois administration in such a serious situation.
This story is still developing, however, this is a massive blow to the parties involved first and foremost. Basketball is the least of concerns at this time, and I pray for the health and safety of the victim of these horrendous actions. Secondarily, this is such a huge blow to the Illinois Basketball team, the University and the Champaign community
A Star season put on devastating hold
Terrence Shannon Jr was having an All-American Season. He is averaging over 21 points per game, a career high mark significantly improving his all around game. Shannon Jr entered the conversation as one of the best players in college basketball.
To describe this news: Devastation, is the word and thought going through all Illinois Basketball fan’s minds.
