Illinois basketball target set to visit other Big Ten schools
Can the Illini continue their pipeline of European big men?

247Sports recruiting analyst Dushawn London (@DushawnLondon1) reported today on X that Luigi Suigo will visit Purdue. Suigo received an offer from the Boilermakers earlier today and is scheduled to visit West Lafayette on June 16.
Suigo is a 7’3” center currently playing for Olimpia Milano in Italy. He recently competed in the U18 Abu Dhabi Finals, where he averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks over four games.
Purdue is involved…
Purdue becomes the second program to offer the Italian big man. Illinois basketball was the first, extending an offer and hosting Suigo for a visit back in February. The Illini were considered the frontrunner to land the 18-year-old but now face stiff competition from Big Ten rival Purdue.
The Boilermakers have built a reputation for developing towering centers, most notably 7’4” Zach Edey, who won back-to-back National Player of the Year honors. Suigo would follow in the footsteps of Edey, Isaac Haas, and Matt Haarms, who are each over 7 feet tall and developed under head coach Matt Painter.
If he commits to Purdue, Suigo would likely share the frontcourt with 7’3” freshman Daniel Jacobsen, who missed last season due to injury.
According to Derek Piper of Illini Inquirer, Suigo could enroll in college this upcoming season rather than next year, as originally projected.
Suigo remains a top priority for the Illinois basketball staff. Adding him would give Illinois more frontcourt depth and another high-upside European prospect with NBA potential.
