Who Will Lead Illinois Basketball in Scoring?
Despite an influx of intriguing talent, who will lead this Illinois Basketball team in the scoring department?

Who Will Lead Illinois Basketball in Scoring?
Illinois Basketball will have 9 total newcomers on their roster for the 2024-2025 season. 4 of these players will get their first taste of college basketball ever, while 5 players bring an amount of experience at various levels of NCAA ball. In Brad Undewood’s tenure, fans have been lucky enough always to have that one “go-to” guy. For the past two years, it has been a combination of Terrence Shannon Jr and Coleman Hawkins. Previously, players like Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn were those guys. These guys were consistently the best players for Illinois Basketball and were always reliable in leading the team in scoring or toward a victory.
Despite the intriguing talent of the newcomers, it is really difficult to project who will lead Illinois Basketball in scoring.
The leading candidates.
On paper, two players stick out as the guy to tab as this team’s “alpha”. That first player is Evansville transfer, Ben Humrichous. Humrichous is a 6 foot 9 inch forward who shot 41.4 percent from 3-point land. He averaged 14.7 points per game at Evansville and may have averaged more if he did not have to recover from a foot injury in the middle of the season. Humrichrous will certainly have to adjust to playing at the Big Ten level, however, his shooting stroke should translate well.
The other leading candidate will be Kylan Boswell. Boswell may be just as young as any other player on the roster at 19 years old, however, he has two years of college basketball experience on an Arizona squad that was consistently at the top of the Pac-12. Kylan will have the ball in his lands a lot more than he did at Arizona and should see an uptick in all his statistics.
