Illinicast: Summer School Session – Minnesota Golden Gophers

On Thursday (7/11) evening, Illinicast Host Austin Burklund joined Ski-U-Pod host Curt to discuss PJ Fleck, Ben Johnson, and several other topics surrounding Minnesota, and the Big Ten.

Illini Athletics gained the upper hand on the Golden Gophers in 2023-24. Of course, the winning started on the Gridiron in November (4th) of 2023. The Fighting Illini football squad narrowly slipped away with a 27-26 victory on the road, at TCF Bank Stadium. An exciting win for Bret Bielema’s program, despite coming up just short of a bowl game in 2023, with a 5-7 record.

Furthermore, Brad Underwood’s squad was able to complete the program sweep, in a high-octane offensive shootout on February 28th (2024). Defense, for either team, was certainly not the highlight of the evening. The Illini took down Ben Johnsons’ Gophers in a nail-biting shootout 105-97 at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
