Illinois Basketball Star Coleman Hawkins No Longer Visiting Louisville

Per CardinalSports.com, former Illinois Basketball star, Coleman Hawkins, will no longer be visiting the University of Louisville. Earlier this week, it was reported that Hawkins had set up an official visit to the Cardinals after withdrawing from the 2024 NBA Draft. Initially, schools such as Louisville, Arkansas, and North Carolina had buzz to land the talented forward, however, all three schools have rather filled rosters. Arkansas was considered a heavy favorite at one point, however, talented forward, Trevon Brazile decided to return from the NBA draft pool.

Per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, SMU and Kansas State are two schools to look out for.

Difficult timing

If Coleman Hawkins was fully available early in May, he would certainly be the hottest name in the transfer portal. He has shown all the tools necessary to make it into the NBA and could have very well been a second-round draft pick in the 2024 draft. However, given where programs are in the offseason, several rosters are all set. SMU and Kansas State are not the powerhouse programs that one would expect to land one of the best-returning players in College Basketball.

Despite this, both schools give Coleman Hawkins an opportunity to make a significant amount of money, while playing in strong basketball conferences. SMU has a new coach and will be joining the ACC. Kansas State plays in the Big 12, often considered the best league in the country.
