Bret Bielema tweets out about former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh
Illinois Football coach Bret Bielema fires a response at former Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh, amid the growing Connor Stallions scandal.
Illinois Football head coach Bret Bielema didn’t hold back in a tweet directed at former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, amid growing controversy surrounding former assistant Connor Stallion’s “Sign Stealing” scandal.
As the situation continues to develop, the University has decided to fight the allegations against Stallions and the Wolverines Football program, accusing the NCAA of “grossly overreaching” and “wildly overcharging” with a lack of credible evidence. As you can imagine, this sparked a flurry of emotions from college football fans, media, and coaches, including Bret Bielema.
Among the reactions, a resurfaced clip by Justin Spiro of The Spiro Avenue Show added fuel to the fire, showing Harbaugh during his 49ers tenure firmly opposing any form of cheating. Certainly, an ironic stance given the current allegations.

Harbaugh stated in the clip, “You always want to be above reproach. Especially when you are good because you don’t want people saying “Ohhh they are winning because they are cheating.” We want to be above the reproach in everything, play by the rules, if you cheat to win, then you’ve already lost.”
As time passes, more news surrounding the allegations continues to surface, detailing Michigan’s use of assistants to steal signs from opposing teams in elaborate ways, all while under Harbaughs leadership.
That being said, Bret Bielema decided to chime in on “X”, with some criticisms of his own towards the current Los Angeles Chargers coach.
Bielema’s Comment to Jim Harbaugh
In response to the old clip posted by Spiro, Bielema stated, “Really….. Then Why did you leave? Was looking forward to playing, but understand why you ran to the NFL. See you in the future, and can’t wait.”
