Former Illini Ayo Dosunmu out with Calf injury
Ayo Dosunmu will be reevaluated by medical staff once 2025 starts.

Former Illini star, Ayo Dosunmu, has been ruled out with a Calf injury and will be re-evaluated in early 2025. Dosunmu was in the midst of a stellar month of December highlighted by his first NBA triple-double vs the San Antonio Spurs. The former Illini used that performance as a springboard into a December where he averaged 14.2 ppg, 4.6 RPG, 6.4 apg, and 1.4 turnovers per game on 51.5 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from three.
Given his recent strong play, it is tough to see Dosunmu miss a period of time however there does seem to be hope that he will not miss too many games. Ayo Dosunmu has turned into one of the most important pieces for the Chicago Bulls and consistently plays over 30 minutes a night.
An underrated NBA player
Ayo Dosunmu is on one of the most friendly contracts in the entire NBA. A 3 year, 21 million-dollar contract for a two-way starter that plays over 30 minutes a night consistently is certainly the bargain. The question remains whether Dosunmu will be a part of the Chicago Bulls’ future. Right now, the Bulls are in NBA purgatory and need to rid of aging stars Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic. Will they use Dosunmu’s friendly contract as part of a package to sweeten a deal? Or will Ayo Dosunmu be a part of a major rebuild for what is currently a mediocre franchise?
