Should Illinois basketball pursue top-20 guard Quentin Coleman?
The Illini have had elite guard play in their past seasons and could certainly be a great fit for Quentin Coleman.

Illinois basketball was one of six teams that were considered for combo guard Quentin Coleman. Coleman ended up committing to Wake Forest; however, he has just recently opened up his recruitment, amidst a poor season for the Demon Deacons. Coleman held a top six of Illinois, Iowa, Texas Tech, St. Louis, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest. From what is being spoken on Twitter, the Illini are in a position to make a run at Coleman now that he is back on the market.
Per 247sports, Coleman is a four-star prospect and should be one of the most sought-after guard prospects in the country.
Background on Quentin Coleman’s story
Quentin Coleman actually started off his high school basketball career in O’Fallon, Illinois, before transferring to Principia High School. Since then, Coleman has turned himself into a top-20 recruit in the country and one of the best scoring guards in the country.
Right now, Illinois basketball has three commits in its class of 2026. Combo guards Lucas Morillo and Ethan Brown, and stretch-forward Landon Davis. If Coleman were to join the class, the Illini would have three extremely intriguing freshman prospects on their perimeter with skills to play early. Morillo continues to rise up the recruiting rankings, and Ethan Brown continues to impress whoever watches him.
The Illini will have to replace Keaton Wagler and Kylan Boswell after this season. If Quentin Coleman can join the Illini’s class of 2026, they should be fully equipped to sustain the success they have had in recent years.
