Former Illini Coleman Hawkins works out for the Chicago Bulls
The former Illinois forward has all the skills to fit in the modern NBA game.
Former Illinois big man Coleman Hawkins has been preparing for the 2025 NBA Draft, recently participating in pre-draft workouts. According to his Instagram (@colemanhawkins33), he worked out for the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.
Despite participating in previous years, Hawkins was not invited to the 2025 Draft combine.
Projected as a second-round pick in last year’s draft, Hawkins made a smart financial decision to return to school, accepting a lucrative NIL deal from Kansas State.
An Illini Legacy
He spent four years at Illinois, improving each season. As a senior, Coleman Hawkins averaged 12.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, earning All-Big Ten Second Team honors (AP) while helping lead the Illini to their first Elite Eight appearance since 2005.

Known for his versatility, Hawkins became the first player in program history to record at least 900 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists, 100 blocks, and 100 steals.
In his final collegiate season at Kansas State, Hawkins averaged 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, earning All-Big 12 Third Team honors from the coaches.
While not currently projected to be selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, Hawkins will likely earn a spot on an NBA Summer League roster. If he finds the right fit, he has the ability to show his NBA-ready skillset. He can shoot from deep, defend guards and big men, and is an exceptional passer.
