Former Illini Commit Jeremiah Fears sinks Michigan with four point play
The former Illini commit had 30 points in a win over a Big Ten opponent.
Former Illini basketball commit, Jeremiah Fears, erupted for 30 points in a comeback win over the 24th-ranked Michigan Wolverines. Fears led the Sooners in scoring and cashed in on a huge four-point play to give the Sooners a one-point lead with seconds to go. The former Illini commit has had an outstanding start to his freshman campaign and is currently catching the eye of NBA draft analysts. The Joliet, Illinois native currently averages 17.9 points per game on 49.6% from the field in addition to 4.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Jeremiah Fears has had unprecedented success as a reclass guard. He was initially committed to Illinois in the class of 2025, however, made the decision to reclassify which led him to recommit and play for Oklahoma.
Bet on yourself
It was certainly a gutsy call for Jeremiah Fears and his camp who just turned 18 years old two months ago. Typically, younger reclass guards with slender frames take some time to adjust to the college game. However, Fears is playing himself into the lottery pick discussion. Though Illinois basketball would have loved to have an in-state guard leading the charge, Fears may not have seen the same role in Champaign through his reclass.
Kasparas Jakucionis and Kylan Boswell are starting guards who have the ball in their hands quite often. Jakucionis has also been a freshman standout for Illinois basketball and is receiving the same kind of NBA draft buzz. Kylan Boswell has come in and proven he is one of the best defenders in college basketball.
Through my eyes, both parties have benefitted.
