Former Illini Quincy Guerrier was finally able to contribute in the 2024 NBA Summer League. Guerrier is on the Toronto Raptors, however, did not see the floor during the first two games. In the past week, however, he did get in the game for some spot minutes. During his first game, Guerrier logged six minutes of action. He did not score, however, grabbed two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. In Friday night’s bout, the former Illinois basketball forward logged 17 minutes.

Quincy was able to show his rebounding prowess as the Canadian forward grabbed seven rebounds, four of which were offensive boards. He also got to the line for four free throws, however, he was only able to knock down two of them.

Guerrier will hopefully get some minutes in the next game for the Toronto Raptors. Besides Terrence Shannon Jr, the other Illini participating in the 2024 summer league did not get much run. Giorgi Bezhanishvili and Marcus Domask both have received “DNP’s” in most recent games. In fact, Guerrier’s 17-minute run on Friday was the most any former Illinois basketball player not named Terrence Shannon Jr played all summer league. The NBA is tough to break and all three will likely spend time overseas or in the NBA G-league.

Quincy Guerrier has all the measurables for a prototypical NBA wing, however, he needs to shoot the ball more consistently. His rebounding prowess is certainly impressive, however, his shot will need to improve as he starts his professional career.
