NEWS: Illinois basketball has the best fans in the entire country. In just 18 short minutes, tickets to the Orange Krush student section were sold out. That’s right, 3000 tickets sold out like that in just 18 minutes. That is a new record for the ever-so lively Illini basketball student section, who consistently show up year after year. As per Scott Richey’s reporting in the News-Gazette, the section has sold out for 5 straight seasons dating back to 2021-2022. The Illini have successfully made an NCAA tournament dating back to the 2020-2021 season.

Brad Underwood has this program humming at a high level. Fans continue to support the program, and recruiting is at an all-time high. Since success has returned to Champaign, Illinois, basketball continues to bring in the best prospects from the transfer portal and from the prep ranks. For this upcoming season, Illinois is expected to compete with the best given its returning roster. The roster will undoubtedly be tested early with an absolute gamut of a non-conference schedule. The sold-out student section will certainly have some marquee matchups to look forward to, given the strength of the non-conference schedule.
