Illinois Basketball News: Priority Transfer Guard Visiting Campus on Tuesday
Can Illinois Basketball lock down a former McDonalds’ All American

NEWS: With Will Riley and Kasparas Jakucionis seemingly bound for the NBA, Illinois Basketball is in serious need of highly productive perimeter players. Fortunately for Brad Underwood’s squad, one of their top targets is headed to Champaign for an official visit tomorrow.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Cal transfer guard Andrej Stojaković — son of three-time NBA All-Star Peja Stojaković (Sacramento Kings) — will be on campus Tuesday (4/22) for an official visit to check out the facilities and meet with the staff.
It is certainly a huge opportunity for the Illini to lock in a reliable scorer from the portal, which has remained elusive up to this point.

The 6-7 sophomore and former McDonald’s All-American averaged 17.9 PPG this season.

The Impact
The Carmichael, CA native and former McDonald’s All-American has kept his college career close to home thus far. After spending his freshman season at Stanford, Stojaković transferred to Cal, where he had a breakout year in 2024–25 and put himself on the national radar.
Stojaković averaged 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game for the Golden Bears last season, logging 33.4 minutes per outing. Overall, he shot 42.7% from the field and 31.2% from three, earning All-ACC Honorable Mention and significantly raising his stock as a transfer portal target. For a team like Illinois, in heavy need of an experienced scorer, the market is in heavy demand for a guy with Andrej’s skillset.
Now, the Illini staff appears to be putting their foot on the gas to land the talented wing. With Will Riley likely headed to the NBA draft, Stojakovic would immediately fill the need for a go-to scorer.
Chances for Illinois Basketball?
With Stojakovic heading to Champaign, the Illinois Basketball staff has a great chance to wrap this recruitment up in the very near future. Other programs like Kentucky, Duke, and more are in the mix, but according to Joe Tipton, Illinois leads the way for Andrej.
The Sleepers Media crew stated on their show on Monday Morning, “Per Joe Tipton (@TiptonEdits) Illinois is in fact the favorite in the recruitment. Illinois is out in front, they lead…. it’s not a done deal. But, there is heavy smoke from all directions that there is mutual interest between Andrej Stojaković and Illinois.”
