Illinois Basketball News: Terrence Shannon Jr to have Jersey honored on February 15th
The Illinois basketball legend will have his jersey honored during the home game vs Michigan State.
NEWS: Per the official Illinois basketball social media accounts, the Illini will hold an honored Jersey ceremony for Terrence Shannon Jr. on February 15th. Shannon Jr will return to Champaign for the ceremony as his alma mater takes on the Michigan State Spartans for a home Big Ten game. This is certainly no surprise as Terrence Shannon Jr will go down as one of the greatest Illini of all time.
In terms of accolades, he was robbed of great honors such as the AP All-American and the Wooden Award due to the legal case he was enduring. Despite this, Shannon Jr averaged 23.0 ppg and 4.0 RPG on an Illinois basketball squad that won the Big Ten Tournament and made the Elite Eight.
He’s coming home.

An Illinois Basketball legend
Shannon Jr will be the third Illini to have his jersey honored during the Brad Underwood era. Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn were the two other players that have had their jerseys honored during the seven seasons Coach Underwood has been here. Terrence was the only first round NBA Draft pick of the trio, however, he is still trying to gain playing time on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Given how he performed in his brief stint in the NBA G-league, it should only be a matter of time until the Illinois basketball legend gets his shine.
