Illinois Basketball Signee Keaton Wagler drops Triple Double
The 2025 signee is developing into an impressive backcourt piece
Illinois basketball signee, Keaton Wagler, dropped a triple-double vs a high school rival, Shawnee Mission East. The class of 2025 signee for the Illini dropped 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 5 steals. It was certainly an impressive night for Wagler who signed with Illinois in November. The calling card for Wagler is his shooting stroke combined with his long frame on the perimeter. However, it seems that he is starting to develop other aspects of his game. At least per some of the highlights on X, Wagler is handling some point guard duties.
Wagler is one of two commits for Illinois basketball in the class of 2025. New Jersey shooting guard, Brandon Lee, is the other signee who also has been having an impressive senior season. I was able to catch up with Keaton who kindly shared some of his thoughts on the performance and his senior season.

“I can play with anybody”
Keaton told me that his season is going very well and that he looks forward to two tough games in the coming week vs Chaminade and Link Prep. One of Keaton’s goals for the season is to show that he “can play with anybody”. “If there is any doubt in anyone’s mind that I can’t play against high-level players, I want to show them that I can”
It sounds like the Illini are getting an elite shooter with a chip on his shoulder. That kind of determination is just a staple in the “Everyday Guys“ culture that Illinois basketball owns.
