Illinois Basketball Star Terrence Shannon Jr Found Not Guilty
Illinois Basketball Star, Terrence Shannon Jr, has been found not guilty.
At long last, Illinois basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr has been read Not Guilty. On December 28th, Shannon Jr was accused of rape and was suspended effective immediately from Illinois Basketball. He returned to play on January 21st at home vs Rutgers and finished out the rest of the season. Terrence Shannon Jr’s case went to trial on June 10th and multiple updates from Peoria Attorney, Mitch Gilfillan, have been public on Twitter. The trial has certainly been a lot to deal with from Shannon Jr himself to those who have testified for him.
A Whirlwind 6 months
Terrance was robbed of honors such as the first team AP All-American team, the Julius Irving award, and more due to his ongoing legal situation throughout the season. An absolute travesty, considering the sheer dominance he portrayed on the court during 2023-24. Through every ounce of ridicule and tribulation, Terrance remained a leader. The Junior averaged 23.0 points despite having this case looming over his prospective NBA career.
Certainly, with this ruling, Illini nation will certainly celebrate Terrence Shannon Jr as an Illini legend and icon.
What’s Next
This ruling had a direct impact on Terrence Shannon Jr’s outcome in the 2024 NBA draft. The general consensus is that he is a lottery talent. However, no one would draft Shannon Jr if he were found guilty. Now that he is innocent of the charges, most assume that Shannon Jr will return to the first round. Shannon Jr was arguably the best perimeter player in all of college basketball. Though his age likely prevents lottery status, he has all the skills necessary to be an NBA forward. As of this moment, NBAdraft.net has Shannon Jr going 26th overall to the Washington Wizards.
State of Kansas vs. Terrence Shannon Jr.
We, the people of Douglas County, Kansas, find the Defendant, Terrence Shannon, Jr.:
