Illinois basketball target Alex Constanza transferring high schools
The Illini are still entrenched with 2026 forward Alex Constanza.

Sam Kayser of League Ready announced on X (@247HSHoops) that 2026 top 20 forward Alex Constanza will transfer to Spire Academy in Ohio for his senior season.
Constanza is currently ranked #17 in the 2026 class by ESPN and #14 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Last season, he played high school basketball at Westminster Academy in his home state of Florida, where he averaged 29.8 PPG, 10.9 RPG and 5.1 APG. He is now making the move to Ohio to play under Spire’s new head coach, Kevin Boyle.
Constanza plays AAU basketball on the Puma Pro16 Circuit with Team Scoot. He has been one of the top performers on the circuit all season, showcasing a scoring ability that, combined with his size, could create serious matchup problems for defenders at the next level.
The Chances for Illinois basketball
So far, Constanza has taken official visits to Illinois, Syracuse, and Miami, with a potential visit to Baylor on the horizon. Illinois may hold a unique advantage in his recruitment due to a personal connection with Illini assistant coach Orlando Antigua. Antigua is a close friend of Constanza’s father as the two grew up and played basketball together in New York.
In an interview with Jamie Shaw of On3, Constanza said: “You know, my uncle is on staff there, Orlando Antigua. He and my dad grew up together and played together in New York. So I’ve known him for a long time.”
Illinois has made the five-star forward a top priority in the 2026 class, and his relationship with Antigua could give the Illini a strong edge in landing the talented prospect.
