Illinois Basketball Transfer Portal Targets Commit Elsewhere
Brad Underwood has been a very busy man since October and currently is working on the most important phase for next years 2024-2025 season. Working tirelessly in the transfer market to construct the future of the program. It was announced recently that a pair of Illinois Basketball targets have decided to take their talents elsewhere.
Thursday (4/18), Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr pledged his commitment to Bill Self, and the University of Kansas. The Sophomore from Rockford (Ill) seemed to be a top priority for a short period of time. However, it was rumored that his party was asking for a hefty price tag in the NIL market. Seemingly, Illinois was still very interested, however, priorities shifted. See his post from X below.
With great excitement and humility, I announce my commitment to the University of Kansas Basketball program. Joining the Jayhawks is a dream realized, and I'm incredibly honored for this opportunity to be a part of the tradition and culture of Kansas Basketball. Agtg🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/ksyFtJvfqQ

Yesterday, (4/18) Toledo shooting guard Dante Maddox Jr. committed to Xavier. After a recent visit to Champaign, the Illinois Basketball staff seemed to have confidence in their position with Maddox Jr. However, Dante pledged his commitment to Sean Millers squad live on The Field of 68. See Jeff Goodman’s reactionary post below, as well as the breakdowns of Dante Maddox Jr. and AJ Storr.

Armchair Breakdown: AJ Storr
Storr was an Illinois Basketball commit back in April 2021. After Chin Coleman moved on to Kentucky, Storr then decided to commit to St. Johns. After a year, AJ decided to transfer to Wisconsin. Storr had a great year for the Badgers and emerged as one of the best perimeter players in the Big Ten. He averaged 16.8 points per game and will certainly one of the better players in college basketball next year.
Armchair Breakdown – Dante Maddox Jr.
The 6 foot 2 inch, 195 lb Chicago Heights native was a first-team all-state nominee in High School. As a redshirt sophomore at Toledo, Maddox Jr averaged 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists per game. On the defensive side, he averaged 1.7 steals per game, as well. The Toledo transfer led the MAC in 3-point shooting in 2023. Totaling a 45.1% three-point percentage from deep. A 49.4% three-point average during league play, on 77 attempts.
