Illinois Football: Senior receiver Pat Bryant due for breakout game
Illinois Football senior wide receiver Pat Bryant has stood out as a home run hitter for Luke Altmyer and the Illini offense.
Talented wideout Pat Bryant has been a reliable force for quarterback Luke Altmyer and the Illini offense. Currently, he is leading Illinois Football in receiving yards. That is certainly not an easy feat in a room with talent such as Zakhari Franklin.
Through 2 games, Bryant’s hauled in 2 touchdowns on 8 receptions, totaling 133 receiving yards. Of course, including a couple of massive catches to help seal an upset over the Kansas Jayhawks. Certainly, a hot start to the future pro’s senior season, which is shaping up to be an exciting one in Champaign.
Bryant brings Reliability
Currently, the Illini senior hoists an impressive 16.6 yards per play average, which tells us a lot about him as a receiver. He is a reliable playmaker, who is also great at moving the chains. It seems that when Altmyer is looking to hit a home run, Bryant is almost always the best answer.
Pat uses his large frame and reliable hands to highpoint the ball, and make plays that a lot of other guys just couldn’t. This was including a ridiculous 4th quarter catch in double coverage, helping the Illini move the chains 37 yards deep into Jayhawks territory.
Pat has a great opportunity to have himself a game against the Chippewas’ struggling defense and add a few more big plays to his current total.
