Illinois Women’s Basketball Makes Top Six for Four-Star Prospect
Illinois Women’s Basketball has made the top six for four-star prospect, Kamryn Kitchen. Kitchen is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina who named Illinois in a top six of Marquette, Louisville, Penn State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. The Charlotte native is a 5 foot 9 sharpshooter who would bring a fantastic shooting stroke to Shauna Green’s crew. Per MaxPreps.com, Kitchen averaged 16.7 points on 54% field goal percentage and 42% from the 3-point line this past season. Above all, Kitchen would be another strong recruiting win for the Lady Illini.
She recently told Kedric Prince of IlliniGuys, “I really like the Illinois staff and how they take care of their players on and off the court. I love their style of play. Yes, they have a chance.”

Year three of the Shauna Green Era
Shauna Green has undoubtedly brought in immediate stability to a program that really needed direction. Green impressed the world by making the NCAA tournament in year one and followed that up by winning the inaugural WBIT. She has brought in a strong recruiting class and some talented pieces in the transfer portal. With a renewed roster of talent, the women’s basketball team will hopefully take another step forward in year three of the Shauna Green era. Without a doubt, the combination of Green, Brad Underwood, and Bret Bielema has been outstandingly stable and competent. They have all brought their own flavor of leadership to the main revenue sports which has really supplemented the already strong spring sports programs.
