News: Illinois basketball lands top wing in transfer portal Andrej Stojakovic
The Illini have successfully landed one of the top players in the 2025 transfer portal.

News: Illinois Basketball was in clear need of an experienced scoring threat to help fill the void left by one-and-done freshmen Will Riley and Kasparas Jakucionis, both projected first-round picks in the upcoming June NBA Draft in New York. Thankfully, Brad Underwood’s deep-rooted international connections have once again paid off for the Fighting Illini.
Following a key official visit, Illinois has landed a massive commitment from Cal wing Andrej Stojaković, per multiple reports. The talented transfer is widely considered one of the top available wings in the transfer portal market. Now, Illinois basketball has added Stojakovic, Zvonimir Ivisic, David Mirkovic, and Mihailo Petrovic to their roster.
The Carmichael, CA, and Greek-Serbian native is the son of three-time NBA All-Star Peja Stojaković (Sacramento Kings).
The fit for Illinois Basketball
Stojaković gives Illinois Basketball an immediate go-to option on the perimeter. At 6’7″ and 200 pounds, he’s a big, skilled wing with next-level talent who also brings a veteran presence to Brad Underwood’s locker room.
The former McDonald’s All-American began his college career at Stanford before transferring to Cal, where he averaged 17.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game as a sophomore last season, logging 33.4 minutes per outing. He shot 42.7% from the field and 31.2% from three-point range, earning All-ACC Honorable Mention honors. His scoring ability is exactly what Illinois needed, and with continued development, Stojaković has the potential to become one of the most dangerous wings in the Big Ten, just as he was in the ACC a season ago.
Since the loss of Morez Johnson Jr. and Tre White, the Illini have reloaded in a major way. They now hold a dangerous starting lineup with plenty of skill, versatility, and experience.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Stojaković gives the Illini a potential long-term scoring presence on the wing.
